Why did the Calgary Real Estate Board move from the 4 Quadrants to 8 Districts?
The reason for the change is because of the built up collection of community names that no longer exist or never formally existed in the first place. Now CREB (Calgary Real Estate Board) is aligned with the City of Calgary community names and districts. This will provide consistency and clarity for all existing communities and allow the MLS® system to stay current.
The major changes are the boundary names.
“Estate” areas will be removed as they are not recognized by The City of Calgary.
New Communities will be added
Existing names will be changed to match City naming
Zones A, B, C and D will become 8 districts, although your municipal addresses will remain the same which indicate properties are located (NW, NE, SW, SE). To search on a Real Estate website however, you will need to search by the following 8 districts.
